80 kg of fake cheese and 168 kg of suspicious mawa seized: SOG and municipality raids at two places, red eye against those who tamper with people's health

For the taste-loving Suratians, a red-light incident has come to light once again. If you are consuming cheese or sweets brought from outside, then you need to be careful. The Surat City Special Operation Group and the Food and Safety Department of Surat Municipal Corporation have jointly turned a red eye against the elements that are seriously compromising the health of the people in Surat city. By raiding two different areas of the city in a single day, the administration has seized suspected fake cheese and adulterated mawa worth thousands of rupees before they are sold in the market.

Suspicious 'Analog Paneer' found at 'Shriji Provision Store' in Udhna Based on specific information received by Surat SOG, a police team along with Surat Municipal Corporation's Food and Safety Department officers J.M. Desai and T.S. Patel set up a watch in Udhna area. An investigation was conducted at "Shriji Provision Store" (Shop No. 01) in Jyotinagar Society, Patel Colony, Udhna village.

80 kg of suspected paneer seized Here, the officials were shocked when they inspected the shop in the presence of the shop manager, Navalkishore Motiram Garg. 70 kg of suspected Malai Paneer (valued at Rs. 24,500) and 10 kg of suspected "analog paneer" (valued at Rs. 2400) were found in the shop. Analog paneer is a fake paneer made from cheap alternatives like vegetable oil instead of milk fat, which can be harmful to health. Thus, a total of 80 kg of suspected paneer, worth Rs. 26,900, was seized.

168 kg of suspicious mawa seized from a flat in Pune-Magob Apart from paneer, it has been revealed that there is a lot of adulteration in the mawa used in sweets. Based on another tip-off received by the SOG team, a raid was conducted in Pune area with the Food Officer of the Municipality D.D. Thakor. This scam was exposed in the residential area of ​​Building No. G-1, Flat No. 23 of "Priyanka City" located in Magob. During the search at the house of the flat owner Hanuman Ladhuram Bishnoi, a huge amount of 168 kg of suspicious mawa used for making sweets was found from there. The total value of this mawa is estimated at Rs. 34,953. It is suspected that such suspicious mawa is being used to harm the health of the people when the demand for sweets increases during festivals or normal days.

Legal action will be taken if the substances are found to be adulterated. A total of lakhs of rupees have been seized in these two raids. The food safety officers have sealed the quantity of suspected Malai Paneer, analogue Paneer and suspected mawa. All the samples have been sent for analysis to know how harmful these food items really are and what things are adulterated in them. The officials said that if after the laboratory report comes, these substances are found to be inedible or adulterated, strict legal action will be taken against the shopkeepers and sellers. Following this action by the Surat Police and the municipality, there has been a stir among adulterants. Citizens have also been appealed to check the quality of food items while buying them.
