No hiding behind high walls this New Year. Drones will watch every private party. Surat Police crack down on hookah culture.
₹18 lakh worth of ‘glamorous’ hookahs seized from Mumbai–Delhi supply
As Surat gets ready to bid goodbye to 2025 and welcome New Year 2026, Surat Police have gone on high alert to prevent anti-social activities, drug abuse, and illegal parties in the city.
Every year, police action on December 31 mainly targets liquor parties, but this time the focus has expanded to hookah parties as well. The Surat Special Operation Group (SOG) has launched a strict crackdown to protect youth from the rising hookah trend and its serious health risks.
Drone Surveillance Over Luxury Farmhouses
Following the Police Commissioner’s instructions, drones will be deployed to monitor private parties held at luxury farmhouses, open plots, and secluded locations around Surat.
Areas under drone surveillance include:
Dumas, Vesu, Adajan, and major city highways.
Police officials have made it clear that high walls, forest-covered areas, or isolated locations will not help violators escape. Any location found hosting hookah activities will face immediate raids and legal action.
₹18 Lakh Hookah Seizure
In a major action ahead of New Year’s Eve, Surat Police have already seized ‘glamorous’ hookahs worth ₹18 lakh, reportedly sourced from Mumbai and Delhi.
With strict monitoring, drone surveillance, and ground teams in action, Surat Police aim to ensure a safe, disciplined, and incident-free New Year celebration.
