Gold is up 69%, silver 107% — did you check last week’s prices?

Gold and silver have been on the rise for the past 2 weeks. Gold has reached ₹1,28,592/10gm, and silver touched ₹1,78,210/kg. Let’s see what’s driving these big jumps!

Good news for jewellery lovers in Surat: the prices of gold and silver shot up sharply last week. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), gold has peaked at ₹1,28,592 per 10 grams, while silver has touched ₹1,78,210 per kg.

This year, gold is up 69% and silver is up 107%. From January to December, gold rose from ₹76,162 to ₹1,28,592 per 10 grams, and silver went from ₹86,017 to ₹1,78,210 per kg.

There are three main reasons behind this surge:

Central bank purchases – As global banks reduce dependence on the dollar, they are investing more in gold. This continuous demand keeps the market price high.

Shift from crypto to gold – Investors are moving to gold due to volatility in crypto and fears of stricter regulations. Low stock market returns in India, along with the wedding season starting, have also pushed demand up.

Long-term wealth – Gold always retains value. It’s indestructible, limited in supply, and acts as a safe investment during inflation.

When buying gold, always keep these two things in mind:

Buy certified gold with the BIS hallmark.

Check prices carefully from multiple sources and understand the karat (24K, 22K, 18K) before purchasing.

For jewellery shoppers in Surat, staying aware of these rising prices is important. Keeping an eye on last week’s trend will help you make wise investment decisions for yourself and your family.
