Rivaba Jadeja hit back at Rahul Gandhi on women’s safety, saying Gujarat “was, is and will remain number one.” She also predicted Congress will stay in single digits in the 2027 Gujarat elections.
A sharp political exchange has erupted in Gujarat after Women’s Minister Rivaba Jadeja strongly responded to Rahul Gandhi’s claims on women’s safety and illegal liquor in the state. Hitting back at the Congress leader, Rivaba declared that Gujarat “was, is and will remain number one” and predicted that Congress would be reduced to single digits in the 2027 Assembly elections.
Rahul Gandhi, during the Congress’ Jan Aakrosh Yatra, alleged that increasing drunkenness, illegal liquor and crime have created insecurity among women in Gujarat. Posting on X, he said that while the national average of crimes against women is around 4%, Gujarat reports 1.48%, questioning the effectiveness of prohibition. He also expressed concern over drugs and crime impacting the youth and weakening Gujarat’s moral fabric.
Responding firmly, Rivaba Jadeja rejected the allegations, citing official crime data and maintaining that Gujarat remains among the safest states for women. Accusing Congress of spreading misinformation for political gain, she reiterated public trust in BJP governance.
With Congress stepping up its campaign and the BJP mounting an aggressive defence, women’s safety and prohibition have once again become key political flashpoints in Gujarat.
