A scary crack on Surat’s Anuvratdwar bridge is now worrying thousands of daily commuters.

A big crack has appeared on Surat’s busy Anuvratdwar overbridge. The bridge was repaired just a few months ago but iron rods are already visible. People are now scared and asking if the bridge is really safe.

A serious safety concern has come up at Surat’s Anuvratdwar overbridge, which is located in the very busy City Light area. A large and deep crack has been found in one of the bridge pillars, and the iron rods inside the pillar can now be clearly seen. This has created fear among local people and daily commuters.

The bridge was built in 2016 at a cost of around ₹55 crore. Recently, the bridge was closed for almost one month for major repair work, which cost about ₹7 crore. Due to this, traffic in the area was badly affected. However, just a short time after the repairs, such big cracks appearing has raised serious questions about the quality of the work done.

According to local residents, the crack is very deep and the concrete inside the pillar has broken. Experts say that exposed iron rods are a dangerous sign for the safety of the bridge. Thousands of vehicles pass over this bridge every day, which makes the situation even more worrying.

After incidents like the Morbi bridge collapse, people are now more alert about bridge safety. Citizens are now demanding that the Surat Municipal Corporation immediately conduct a proper scientific inspection of the entire bridge by structural engineers. People want answers and strict action so that any major accident can be avoided in future.
