Municipal Corporation struggles to meet ₹2390 crore tax target; only 75% achieved so far...
The Surat Municipal Corporation had started tax collection work on a large scale in March. To date, the highest collection received in a single day is Rs 41.75 crore. In the year 2024-25, collections of Rs 167 crore in professional tax and Rs 153.33 crore in vehicle tax have been received. This is the highest collection received in one year.
Income of Rs 1716 crore against Rs 2390 crore Surat Municipal Corporation had put in tremendous effort to achieve the tax collection target. The highest tax collection was in Varachha Zone B and the lowest in Central Zone. Among the major revenue sources of Surat Municipal Corporation, the economic capital of the state, only 75% of the target has been achieved in tax collection in the current financial year so far.
